The German health care system

I will not bore you with statistics, however, it is worth knowing that when talking about the German health care system we are talking about the oldest health insurance system in the world, providing one of the best health care services worldwide. According to the Euro health consumer index, which placed it in the seventh position in its 2015 survey, Germany has long had the most restriction-free and consumer-oriented healthcare system in Europe. Patients are allowed to seek almost any type of care they wish whenever they want it, according to another statistic in 2017 Germany spend more than €18 billion on the health system.

The German health system constitutes of around 1,914 hospitals and the proportion of physicians in the population is more than 4.6 per 1,000 inhabitants.

Medical education in Germany

ME 2024

The medical education system for students is among the best in the world, especially talking about their residency programs, all residents must complete what is like a logbook of the major information and skills needed for their specialization, seniors in many hospitals directly supervise the residents, no need to mention that the German hospitals are equipped by all kinds of needed instruments for all specialties and operations.

Plus, the residents’ salary is excellent, in the range of 3000 -4500 Euros depending upon the area of your medical residency.

Medical research in Germany

If you are interested in medical research, Germany is the place for you, all university hospitals have research programs that you can enroll in, and you can find research opportunities in most other hospitals if your senior is a university professor which is usually the case.

However, you have to pay attention to the fact that making research projects during your residency won’t subtract anything from your residency program working hours, it is just a bonus.

Transportation

You can buy daily, monthly, or yearly bus tickets at affordable prices.

The train and metro systems in Germany are also commonly used.

Living costs, Incomes, and work conditions
