Residency Program
● Internal medicine.
● Obstetrics and Gynecology.
● General surgery.
● Urology is recognized by the Arab board only.
● Orthopedics.
● Neurosurgery (recognized by the Arab board only).
● Emergency medicine.
● Radiology.
● Ophthalmology.
● Some specialties in the hospital are not available such as ENT and psychiatry.
Resident salary
● Resident salary: no salary for non-Jordanian residents and they don’t pay any fees but pay for insurance
● Financial reward: 100 JD monthly
● Health insurance: Subscription and class are optional
The first class gets paid 109 JD, the second 80 JD, and the third 60 JD.
The insurance covers the first-class relatives in case the doctor is the only son/daughter otherwise the doctor pay for the parents
Penalty: 3000 JD after 6 months this period is a trial period for the doctor and the hospital the doctor will be assessed after this period to ensure he is qualified enough for the residency program if the hospital breaches the term of the contract the resident will not pay the penalty otherwise the doctor will pay the penalty.
Leaves
● Annual leave of 21 days is usually not on the raw unless for particular circumstances such as marriage or urgent situations
● Sick leave:14 days in case the doctor didn’t use those days will add to the next year then after 2 years there will be a leaves balance settlement
Shifts
It depends on the department and the year:
● First year: 10-12 hours
● Second year: 8-10 hours
● Third year: 6-8 hours
● Fourth year: 5-8 hours
● Fifth year: 4-5 hours
Work hours from 7:30 to 3:30 except for general surgery.
Are all the specialties allowed for females and males?
Female only for obstetric and gynecology other specialties depending on the need of each department in all specialties the females have to wear Islamic dress code such as jilbab.
Is there any extra point for doing the internship in this hospital or not?
10 points out of 100 in the final assessment.
Application process
The Jordanian Committee to Support the Health Sector in Gaza announced specialization opportunities in the Islamic hospital on the human resources development page with a requirement which is IELTS or IFOM after this the applicant should pass the exam and interview in Gaza after finishing the internship and then complete the application process with submitting the required documents.
