Said Foundation Scholarship is one of the most prestigious scholarships available for Palestinians, yet it is the most difficult one since there is no quota for Gaza!
Yes, it happened that at one round in the previous five years, no candidates from Gaza were selected! So you are actually in tough competition with all Syrians, Lebanese, Jordanian, and the other side of Palestine-the west bank-. So to be awarded, Said scholarship is really a big achievement.
For all those who wish to apply this year or in the upcoming years, this post is for you.
Once the application is open, start by searching all available Master courses at the partner universities, and please remember, Said only accept an application to partner universities. You can check the list from their official website.
Once you established a list of courses that you would like to study, then rank them according to the university ranking worldwide and at UK as well as the subject ranking at your university, it is really a positive point to your application to choose one of the top universities at UK like Oxford, Cambridge, UCL, ICL, King’s College London, Edinburgh, Glasgow..etc
P.S: Oxford and Cambridge Universities have slightly different application processes as Candidates for Oxford and Cambridge Universities must complete the Foundation’s online application form and also follow Oxford and Cambridge’s admission and scholarship application procedures.
Generally, the application form is divided into three sections
The major criteria that determine the strength of your application are the five essay questions that are asking about: leadership potential, Career plan, your commitment to bring a positive impact to your country upon return, and why you have chosen these three courses.

It’s recommended to write a draft on a separate document and let someone proofread it before submitting your application, also it is important to highlight your relevant activities from your studies or professional background, and any project or initiative that you have been actively involved in. In addition to voluntary work which is a very important factor for Said scholarship, they will ask you specifically about examples from your voluntary work at the interview.
NEVER COPY PASTE in your application as it would be easy for them to notice it since they use accurate software tools which detect copy-paste plagiarism.

Today, while I was driving my way home after an exhausting day of university, as every other day of university life, I couldn’t stop questioning myself about the next step after finishing my final year of university. The plan was clear from the beginning: studying in the United Kingdom is still my dream, and it is probably also yours. But whether we are prepared enough was always the question. Luckily enough, a friend of mine from Gaza has been studying in the UK for the past 2 years and has excellent experience in regards to applying for scholarships, so I decided to write about what I have learned about one of the best scholarships for postgraduate study programs in the UK.

It’s a charity foundation Established in 1982 by Mr Wafic and Mrs Rosemary Saïd. The Foundation provides fully funded scholarships that offer programs and training opportunities for talented students from its target region to study for a Master’s degree in the UK that will lead them to improve their professional fields and help the rise of their countries of origin.

Saïd Foundation scholarship targets students that are either Palestinian, Jordanian, Syrian or Lebanese, and those who hold an undergraduate degree that is equivalent to a 2:1 or higher, or are in the final year of your undergraduate degree.
Said foundation provides fully-funded scholarships which include tuition fees, full maintenance/living costs for the duration of your course, an arrival allowance, visa and healthcare surcharge fees and one economy return flight.
The Foundation supports one-year master’s degree studies at their partner universities. Undergraduate or PhD study programs are not supported.
Said foundation provides fully-funded scholarships for any one-year master’s degree program no matter the subject is, as long as it’s at one of their partners UK universities. The foundation has no restrictions on academic subjects, however, the applicant will be asked to justify their choice and explain the relevance and importance of the program they have chosen to their home country.
Usually the applications open in early September of each year and close in the end of October.
By the end of January, Assessment and eligibility checks are expected to be done and shortlisted candidates will then be contacted for the interviews which take place usually in March of the same year. Eventually, the final selection of Scholars is usually done by the beginning of June.
This is part 1 of a collection of articles written specifically for those interested in Said Foundation scholarship. We will provide precise information as to what the scholarship is about, how to apply and hopefully be selected for this scholarship. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to contact us!
