The competition ratios may help you make your decision by offering a broad indication of the most and least subscribed specialties and areas. They do not reflect recruitment activity for the future.
There is A notifiable increase in the level of competition in 2024 in comparison to 2023! Taking for example the GP competition ratio which used to be reasonable, it was 2.67 in 2023, and now it’s 3.67. Core surgical training raised 1.08 while Internal medicine raised 1.05. Neurosurgery and Cardiothoracic continue to be the highest competitive ratio.
