Specialization and residency program in The Founding King Hospital 

The Founding King Hospital offers many distinguished training programs, such as the Internship Physician Training Program and the residency training within the Higher Specialization Program in Medicine.

Internship Physician Training Program

Internship doctors are subject to the instructions of the Jordanian Medical Council regarding the duration of the training and their distribution to departments. The training program is based on the following:

• Internship doctors are accepted according to the lists that are agreed upon with the Jordanian Medical Council for Jordanian doctors at the beginning of July of each year.
• The Director General may accept the training of internship physicians outside the lists sent by the Jordanian Medical Council upon a written request submitted for this purpose and upon the recommendation of the Medical Director.
• The Director General may accept the training of non-Jordanian internship doctors based on a written request submitted for this purpose and upon the recommendation of the Medical Director, provided that their training is against payment of the fees prescribed by the Board of Directors.

Residency programs available in the hospital

All majors are available to Jordanians, but non-Jordanians have to pay an annual fee (approximately $6000 annually) and the chance of being accepted depends on the number of applicants for the same major during the year.

Resident salary: No salary is paid to a non-Jordanian resident.
Incentives: Not fixed 40-60 dinars, starting after 6 months of residency, and they are for Jordanians only.

Health insurance: Third, second or first degree, where the resident covers himself and can add his wife and children, and insurance covers 90% of the cost of treatment at the Founding King Hospital.
Leave: includes 21 days annually, in addition to 14 days of sick leave.
Working days: Sunday to Thursday and Friday and Saturday are covered in the shift schedule.

Shifts: their number varies based on the specialization and year of specialization.

Availability of majors for males and females: All specialties are available to both sexes, and any difference reflects the increase in the number of applicants of one sex and not at the request of the hospital.

How and requirements to apply for admission to the higher specialization program at the Founding King Hospital

• For Jordanians: To apply to join the program, it is required to pass the entrance exam and the personal interview after fulfilling the conditions for applying.
• For non-Jordanians: An application for admission to the higher specialization program is submitted through the university’s website, where registration opens for approximately two weeks in the spring of each year (March-April), the application is filled out, documents are uploaded and the amount of application fee is paid, and if the application is accepted, the seat reservation fee must be paid and approximately 2000 Dollars will be deducted from the fees once the registration procedures are completed.

Registration is within the postgraduate program (higher specialization in medicine) of the University of Science and Technology and the fees are paid to the university, from which the names of those accepted are sent to the hospital to open training files and human resources files for each trainee. A medical certificate from the Ministry of Higher Education in Jubaiha (100 dinars and must be renewed annually), a medical examination, and a union subscription (100 dinars to be renewed annually) and goes to the Ministry of Health to practice the profession and must be renewed annually. in the country and renewed annually.

• Other requirements after the start of the study are to pass the Jordanian (national) English language exam, the fee of which is 50 dinars, and the university does not recognize IELTS or TOEFL certificates from other countries.
• For Palestinians: Before traveling, it is necessary to issue Tawjihi and university certificates and reveal degrees certified by Ramallah, and attested by the Embassy of Palestine in Amman Abdoun, then the Jordanian Foreign Ministry in Jubaiha or Shmeisani, then from Education for Tawjihi and Higher Education for university certificates, in addition to obtaining a certificate of internship sealed from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ramallah After the seal of the Bar Association in Gaza.

Study and Training:

Clinical training will be at King Abdullah Founder Hospital, which is the University of Science and Technology Hospital and is located within its campus near the town of Ramtha. After each training year, an annual theoretical and practical exam must be passed to raise the trainee to the next level after sending the grades from the department for postgraduate studies at the university.

Upon graduation, the trainee receives an academic certificate (63 academic hours for the 5-year programs) from the University of Science and Technology called the Certificate of Higher Specialization in the specialty, and graduation research must be done in the hospital for graduation.

After the end of the training period, the trainee receives a statement from the hospital that he has completed the training in the aforementioned specialty, and he must go to the Jordanian or Arab medical council to register for the board exam.
