What are the General Eligibility Criteria for the scholarship?

  1. Candidates must hold a nationality of one of the Chevening eligible countries or territories. More than 160 countries are eligible, you can find the full list of chevening-eligible countries in this picture below.

  1. A candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree before applying that will enable him to gain entry onto a postgraduate programme at a UK university. This is typically equivalent to an upper second-class 2:1 honours degree in the UK or its equivalent but may be different depending on your course and university choice.
  1. Should apply for 3 different one year master degree courses (can be from the same university or from 2 or 3 different universities) and have received at least one unconditional offer (acceptance) from one of them. The courses must be one-year max and not an online course (distance learning system) nor a part-time studying programme system course.
  1. Must fulfill the criteria of English Language requirement.Chevening does not have an English language requirement. However, you are still required to meet all requirements from your chosen university.
  1. Chevening Scholarship requires that applicants have at least two years (= 2,800 hours) of work experience.
  1. It is obligatory for Chevening scholars to return to their home country for a minimum of two years after completing their master’s study in the UK before they leave their home country again.
  1. No restrictions in terms of Gender, age (there is no upper age limit), sexual orientation, religion, marriage or parenthood status, caste, class, or other attributes.
