Abstract submissions for poster presentations at the Royal College of Psychiatrists Congress 2022 are now open. You have until Monday 7 February to submit your proposal.

Guide for authors in the Royal College of Psychiatrists congress

1. Abstracts must be in English. 
2. Abbreviations may be used only if they are defined (spelled out in full text at first mention) followed by abbreviation in brackets.
3. Please complete all sections below in relation to your abstract. 
4. The abstract in total must be no more than 400 words, including formulas but excluding subtitles. 
5. Please do not include any bibliographical references, tables, diagrams or appendices.
6. Case Study If your submission is a case study please complete the boxes as below but treat the titles as the following: Aims = Background, Methods = Case Report, Results = Discussion, Conclusion = Conclusion 
7. Data If abstract does not follow the requested format, it will NOT be accepted. Please do not state ‘Data will be available’ as it will NOT get accepted. Limited data also means it is less likely to be accepted. 
8. The title of the abstract must be strictly coherent with the data included in the abstract and the conclusions must be warranted by information included in the results section. 
9. Authors are encouraged to state their hypotheses and frame their conclusions accordingly. 
10. For studies of service users, patients or populations, the number of people studied should be explicitly stated in the Methods section. 
11. Submissions are accepted on the understanding that the work has been performed with the permission of any relevant ethical or legislative body. The authors should therefore ensure the work was conducted with appropriate ethical and governance safeguards. 
12. All sources of financial sponsorship of the study should be stated at the end of the abstract. 
13. Outstanding candidates may be asked to make an oral poster presentation at the International Congress. 
14. If your abstract has been accepted then at least one of the named authors will need register and pay the Congress registration fee in full.  
15. Only named authors are permitted to present
16. The scientific committee reserves the rights to reject any submission

• Authors will be asked to select one category/topic:
  Research, Education and Training, Quality Improvement, Service Evaluation, Audit, Psychopharmacology or Case Study.  
• Authors must indicate if this is a Student or Trainee submission.

When is Congress 2022 taking place?

Royal College of Psychiatrists Congress 2022 will be taking place on Monday 20 June – Thursday 23 June 2022. Please note that booking has not yet opened for this event. We hope to give you more information about the Congress soon.

Where is Congress 2022 taking place?

The 2022 International Congress will be taking place in Edinburgh.

Edinburgh will be the first face-to-face Congress in three years and a welcome chance to get out and about again. Edinburgh is steeped in history and culture and is the perfect location to experience the sights, sounds, and tastes of a diverse and vibrant city. Whether this is your first time visiting or 100th, there are several fascinating stories to discover.

Will Congress 2022 take place in-person?

In 2022 they are very much hoping to meet again for an in-person International Congress in the fabulous city of Edinburgh.

There is still some uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic and the running of live events but we want to assure you that they are considering all eventualities and monitoring the situation carefully.

In 2023 they will move back online to deliver another innovative virtual International Congress, using the best of technology to deliver their cutting-edge program.

When can I register?

Please note that the Early Bird fee will apply until Wednesday 31 March.

How much will it cost to attend?

Fees for Congress vary depending on several factors. The earlier you book, the more money you will save. Please note that the Early Bird fee is only available up until 31st March 2022.

I am presenting at Congress 2022, am I entitled to a complimentary place?

If you are presenting or chairing a session/masterclass in the main Congress programme you will be offered complimentary registration for the day you are presenting. You do not have to book for this day you will be automatically registered. 

If you wish to attend any further days of the Congress you will need to book and pay for this online. 

Please note poster presenters will not be offered complimentary registration. 

Will I be reimbursed if the Congress is cancelled/rescheduled?

If an event has to be canceled or rescheduled they will contact you as soon as possible to notify you of the change. You will be offered an alternative or a full refund.  

They cannot reimburse travel, accommodation or other costs related to the event.  

I’m not a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. Can I still attend?

Of course! Anyone with an interest in psychiatry is welcome to attend Congress. If you are not a member of the College you will be required to pay the non-member fee once booking opens.
If you are interested in becoming a member, which will entitle you to our reduced Congress registration fees, you can find full details of their membership grades online.

When can I submit a poster abstract?

Submissions for poster presentations will be available later in the year. Keep an eye and sign up for 2022 mailing list for more information.

I’m interested in exhibiting. Who do I contact?

Exhibition sales for the 2022 Royal College of Psychiatrists International Congress are not yet open.
