Said Foundation Scholarship is one of the most prestigious scholarships available for Palestinians, yet it is the most difficult one since there is no quota for Gaza!

Here are the most important advices you should keep your eyes on throughout applying for said foundation scholarship :

1.     Search the courses early and apply for the selected universities online

Once the application is open, start by searching all available Master courses at the partner universities, and please remember, Said only accept an application to partner universities. You can check the list from their official website.

Once you established a list of courses that you would like to study, then rank them according to the university ranking worldwide and at UK as well as the subject ranking at your university, it is really a positive point to your application to choose one of the top universities at UK like  Oxford, Cambridge, UCL, ICL, King’s College London, Edinburgh, Glasgow..etc

P.S: Oxford and Cambridge Universities have slightly different application processes as Candidates for Oxford and Cambridge Universities must complete the Foundation’s online application form and also follow Oxford and Cambridge’s admission and scholarship application procedures.

2.     Start your application

Generally, the application form is divided into three sections

• Section One: personal information
• Section two: essays section
• Section three: Declaration and documents attachment

The major criteria that determine the strength of your application are the five essay questions that are asking about: leadership potential, Career plan, your commitment to bring a positive impact to your country upon return, and why you have chosen these three courses.

Four major criteria of assessment, through this essay questions:

1. Please describe the course you wish to follow and explain why it is relevant to your professional plans in 300 words.

• Express how this course is relevant to your professional and academic background and your future plans.
• Stick to the word limit
• Double-check your answers

2. Please explain why you have chosen the universities to which you have applied in preference to others and give details about the quality of the chosen course 250

• Highlight the strongest points of the course and university you are applying to.
• Stick to the word limit

3. Give an example of a real situation (from your employment, education or your voluntary work) in which you have demonstrated your leadership skills 300.

• Choose the best example that shows your leadership skills, describe the situation your style, and the outcome.

4. Explain, in your own words, why your proposed studies are needed in your home country, providing evidence for your argument as appropriate. 300

• Try to explain how important your proposed study is in the developmental process and the long-lasting benefit to your country.
• Provide evidence.
• Stick to the word limit
• Double-check your answers

5. Explain your career goals and ambitions for the 5-10 years after completion of your proposed studies. Give practical examples of how you will apply your new expertise 500

• Be realistic and determined
• Show your commitment to your country
• Stick to the word limit
• Double-check your answers

 It’s recommended to write a draft on a separate document and let someone proofread it before submitting your application, also it is important to highlight your relevant activities from your studies or professional background, and any project or initiative that you have been actively involved in. In addition to voluntary work which is a very important factor for Said scholarship, they will ask you specifically about examples from your voluntary work at the interview.
