Elective Surgery for Gastric Cancer

The primary objective is to collect data from patients with primary gastric malignancy (including Siewert III) undergoing Elective Surgery with curative intent (either total or partial gastrectomy) via open, laparoscopic or robotic approach.

In the case of collecting 10 or more surgical cases, you will be part of the Writing Group for the research where you will participate in writing it and be one of the main authors. In the case of collecting less than 10 cases, your name will be included in the research as PubMed citable group-authorship.

Research is considered as observational Audit & Research at the same time, it’s great and huge research. 

All consecutive patients undergoing these surgeries between 1st April 2022 and 30th September 2022.

Each team will have a leader. If you think you are qualified, then please don’t hesitate to apply. The number of each team will be depending on the total number of participants.

You will be required to contact a supervisor if you are not a specialist. 
It is a very good opportunity for the CV and those who seek publishing papers in fields of:
General Surgery / Bariatric Surgery / Surgical Oncology / Gastro-intestinal Surgery

Inclusion Criteria:

1. All consecutive patients with primary gastric malignancy (including Siewert III) undergoing Elective Surgery with curative intent (either total or partial gastrectomy) via open, laparoscopic or robotic approach between 1st April 2022 and 30th September 2022 at your centre. The study date may be extended depending on the numbers recruited.
2. Adult patients only (≥ 18 years).

Exclusion Criteria:

1. Patients with clinical evidence of metastatic disease, including positive peritoneal cytology on previous staging laparoscopy, or known synchronous cancer.
2. Presence of gastroesophageal junction (Siewert I and II) malignancy.
3. Patients submitted to Emergency surgery or surgery without curative intent.
4. Patients undergoing additional surgery (except cholecystectomy) along with surgery for gastric cancer.

Authorship:

1. One collaborative authorship per 1 complete dataset. Please provide details of all authors on the Excel Spreadsheet.
2. Participants entering data for ≥ 10 patients will quality for one named authorship on all publications emanating from this dataset.

What makes this project unique:

1. A lot of papers are expected to be published out of this project and will be considered as a guideline reference for future surgeries.
2. Your name will be assigned in every published paper.
3. You can write the paper and statistics by yourself and assign your name wherever you want after you reach an agreement with the moderators.
4. You can request to provide part of the data, whether your own or your country’s, to apply for a conference after you coordinate with the moderators.
5. The participants have the right to suggest any research idea as an ancillary or second publication for all the data and work on it to publish it from the global data group and in such case, you can propose your idea and gain the opportunity to become a first author.

Important notes:

1. The research period will be between April and September 2022.

3. Make sure that you are using a correct email, phone number and writing your name correctly.
4. You can participate in any hospital or private clinic fulfilling the terms of the targeted patients. So, please make sure that your hospital deal with the needed patient.
